My interest for abandoned places has led me to visit the sites of closed factories and former industrial areas. During the last year I have visited Lövsta waste disposal unit in Hässelby, Stockholm and Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine, both of which fascinate and inspire me. It is the contrasts, but also the similarities between nature and the industrial landscape that intrigue me. Contrasts such as the stubbornness of small branches pushing and fighting their way up through the floors in deserted machine halls. Similarities such as the appearance of complicated tubing, in their twisting and turning constructions, mirror the gnarled branches of the real trees that have since made their entrance after the last shift went home for good.

The objects at the exhibition will in different ways treat the meeting between nature and man-made, the organic and the mechanical – coal and steel.

The exhibition is shown at gallery Nutida Svenskt Silver, Stockholm, www.nutida.nu
